The Evolution of the Exercise Ball

The exercise ball has been used for workouts and core conditioning for a very long time and rightfully so. It is such a user friendly, inexpensive and profoundly affective tool that there really is no good reason for anyone to be without an exercise ball in their regular workout routines.

But like all great products, the exercise ball is evolving… and fast.

How can a simple ball that inherently conditions core muscles (Just from sitting on it) and intensifies otherwise mundane exercises possibly get any better?

Well, it can’t, actually. It’s already gone through the evolution of improved durability, and now you can get one in practically any color you want, so the aesthetic evolution is covered as well.

What is evolving is the user. Not satisfied with simple exercise implementation, we’ve discovered that the exercise ball has tremendous benefits outside of our exercise routines as well.

Enter: the exercise ball chair.

“Come on,” you say. “Give me a break,” you might quip. But before you judge this revolutionary concept as just another marketing ploy, consider the following…

1. We already know that replacing your desk chair with an exercise ball of appropriate size is a great way to improve posture and strengthen core muscles while eliminating many of the related problems that desk jockeys frequently suffer from. (Remember, just sitting on an exercise ball works for exercise!)

2. Adults and more notably, children who suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have an unbearably hard time sitting still in their seats for prolonged periods of time.

3. Ergonomic and lumbar chairs for individuals with poor posture, circulation or who have back problems cost a small fortune.

4. There is a growing multitude of children who suffer from sensory processing disorder (Which leads to many issues at home and in the classroom.)

The exercise ball chair is tackling each of these challenges and kicking their backsides… in a very passive, Zen sort of way of course.
Not only does the converted exercise ball alleviate these issues incredibly well, but the various styles of exercise ball chairs are incredibly cool and stylish too!
If you want to turn heads with your chair, and more importantly, if you:

• …want to give your back a break
• …need some non-offensive stimulation when sitting
• …want to avoid that hunchback you’re developing from hunching over your desk for endless hours at work
• …have a child with ADD/ADHD and/or sensory issues

You owe it to yourself to give the exercise ball chair a closer look.
With children suffering from ADD and sensory issues ourselves, we’ve also written an article relating to the benefits of replacing traditional chairs with exercise ball chairs at home and in the classroom. You can read more about it here.

Thanks for reading, and we invite you to visit our website to learn more about this growing trend in exercise ball evolution.

Always remember, life is better when you’re having a ball!
